The world has been under a series of weather changes for the past few decades, but how much of a change have we really taken on? The change of weather has been drastic over a short period of time, with an increase with wildfire risks, rising temperatures, and rising sea levels over only about a few decades. This in perspective is a big change, but to what extent is too much of a change?Altered TemperatureRising temperatures started to become more apparent in the 1880’s. Since then the average global temperature has increased 1.6 degrees fahrenheit. That means that the temperature would’ve had to have risen 0.13 degrees fahrenheit every 10 years since then. (www.climate.gov). To put that in perspective, one summer day it could be 75 degrees fahrenheit, but 20 years later it could be 75.5 degrees fahrenheit!  One hundred years from now it could be 85 degrees!The cause of these rising temperatures could be a variety of things. For example,it could be caused by the amount of heat trapping emissions that are created when we burn things like coal, oil, and gas. (www.ucsusa.org). The emissions get released into the atmosphere, thus creating heat and rising temperatures. The rising temperature could have drastic effects on the world. The wildfires risk could become greater, hurricanes and storms could become more powerful, the ice caps could show changes, and the sea could be affected. All of this would cause a chain reaction to us and other weather events.As said before,the rise in temperature has affected the severity of storms. “The higher temperatures cause the water cycle to go by faster causing heavier storms,” says meteorologist, Sean Sublette. The Northeast has seen a 74 percent increase in rain or snow falling. Though to say the least, storms from 30 years ago differ from today’s storms. Storms also play a part in the rising sea level.The world has seen a dramatic rise in the sea level with the world’s ocean rising since 1992. Not only that, but it has also gotten more acidic by roughly half a percent. The reason it’s more acidic is because of a chemical reactions caused by carbon dioxide being absorbed. (weather.com). The reason the sea is rising could be a multitude of things. According to Sean Sublette, “Evaporation isn’t enough to recede sea level. Along with that ice is melting, adding more water which causes the sea to rise even more.” Also, as said before, storms play a part in the rise. As precipitation falls into the sea evaporation won’t happen fast enough and doesn’t do much to reduce the sea level, as said before. Sadly, all of this water still isn’t enough to prevent certain areas from catching on fire.Wildfires are dangerous, fast spreading, and devastating disasters that occur in dry areas such as California
