Investigatory Project Essay

CHAPTER I Problem and Its Background Before the invention of the light bulb, illuminating the world after the sun went down was a messy, arduous, hazardous task. It took a bunch of candles or torches to fully light up a good-sized room, and oil lamps, while fairly effective, tended to leave a residue of soot on anything in their general vicinity. Solar light bulb, an alternative sourced for daylight powered by sunlight. So that means a lot of savings from your electricity bill.

A Solar Bottle Bulb is a big help especially for the poor people and those who wants to save money in electric bills. This bottle is embedded into the roofs of houses, with part of the bottle outside, and part of it inside. With the use of 100% renewable energy and accessible materials, this initiative enhances the quality of life and relieves the economic pressure suffered by the Filipinos, who on average earn Php 700 every month. Electricity is one of the most important facilitating modern activities and country’s development.

Through time, the importance of electricity to people’s life has only increased. On this ground, more efficient and reliable provision of electricity is desirable for the society. Many Filipinos were complaining about the high electric bills. By promoting the solar light bulb in our society, it has a big contribution to lessen the electric bills. The procedure is simple and does not require a lot of training. When the sun hits the outside part of the bottle, a lot of light reaches the inside part of the bottle.

The water inside the bottle makes the light omni-directional, like an electric light bulb. This can be useful in isolated areas; in this problem we can see the effect of using the solar light bulb. This study will focus on the effect of the solar light bulb not only in the isolated area but also for those people who wants it too and how it can save the user’s electric bills. A. Background of the study It is a simple bottle bulb, usually a 1 liter soda bottle that is filled with a solution of purified water and bleach.

The bottle is inserted halfway through a hole drilled in the metal roof and its sides are sealed. The whole deal looks like a bulb through a sunroof and provides a good amount of light by deflecting sunlight into gloomy interiors. The chlorine and bleach “poisons” the water to keep molds from developing so the solution can last up to five years. The clear and purified water helps disperse the light through refraction, so the light is not concentrated.

It only costs approximately Php 100 to make a solar bottle bulb that is bringing light to dark homes. B. Statement of the Problem/Objectives If the solar light bulb will be made successfully the researchers can show that: 1. It is a big contribution in our society 2. By using this, we will not spend a lot of money 3. The bulb does not produce any harmful pollutants and also reduces the dangers from faulty and temporary electrical connections that cause devastating fires. C. Significance of the Study

The goal/ importance of this experiment is to support people who live in the dim areas and those who can’t afford to pay electricity. D. Scope and limitations This experiment will compromise only on how this solar light bulb will lessen our electric bill. We will use recycled materials such as recycled clear plastic bottles. We will not further discuss about the kind of water we will use and how many sun rays can this solar light bulb can have. We will only show how this solar light can be useful in our community especially to those who live in the dark areas.
