The idea of going overseas for university study is an exciting prospect for many people. Even though it may offer some advantages ,it is probably better to stay home because of the difficulties as a student inevitably encounters living and studying in a different culture. do you agree or disagree? I agree about this statement.
Now days, when we open news paper we always can read that the students from abroad or the student in overseas involve in many of negative activities and they have many problems to living forward in other country to continued their higher studies in overseas university, the problems make them forgot their studies, they become as “free bird” to involve in every kind of bad activity. Firstly, when a student closed with their family and friends they must to thanks to Skype, msn, Face book and others, it still does not mean it is any easier to study abroad half way round the world.
Are any of these people are with them in that unknown country? Nope. That is why they could feel alone and sad sometimes. At the beginning, culture shock will not help us to feel integrated: we they will need an ‘adjustment period’. They should create new habits, discover the place we are going to live, meet people for example. They could feel excluded in the country where they are and not have the social network yet that can give them support and strength.
And if, god forbid, something bad might happen back home, the student might not have the chance to be with their family and friends and have to stay in that country with their pain and alone. Second one is new country and everything seems weird. when a student continue their higher studies in poor country for a example India, Eastern Europe they will have to face other behaviors, and some can make they feel uncomfortable if they are not used to them. Most probably the students have to face difficulties with communicate with other countries people because most of them don’t know in speaking English .
They can name that cultural obstacle. Moreover the food is different, you will have lot of difficulties to find local foods. if the culture is different, the food will be too, certainly. Getting used to these cultural differences can be a real disadvantage for a student study abroad experience. Studying abroad can be really expensive. First, it will depend on the students major and university that they choose, and then it will depend on the country, the city and the place where they want to live big house or small room? ). Moreover most countries do not allow foreign student to work, so they need to have money before they arrive in the country or have someone from home supporting them. The question they have to ask them self is: can I afford to study abroad? because of the money problem most of the students involve in bad activities such as sell the drugs packet… most of Malaysian citizens who was student in abroad was in jail of overseas because of this kind of case.
Last but not least, adapting to a new environment is e real challenge for every student who was study in overseas university. While changing the weather can affect their health, different cultures and customs may influence their mind and make them become less confident or even a victim of discrimination. Every day may turn into a struggle for survival in a strange country. If they don’t have enough physical and mental strength, they will fail to adjust themselves in the new environment. As a result, a student could neither study or gain beautiful experiences as they have expected.
